JEWISH BRUNCH

Jewish brunch doesn't mean one particular thing in this case, but I'm counting my favorite brunch spots in NYC that are either serving traditional Jewish dishes, Israeli food, or old school NYC Jewish deli food.  Either way its all food that I LOVE!

1

Reunion

544 Union Ave

Brooklyn, NY 11211

Reunion might look cute and unassuming, but the food coming out the kitchen is anything but! Some of the most unique Israeli dishes in NYC can be found there.  Check out their Lahma’ajun,

Shakshooka, Sabich Bowl, and Halva Toast for a truly amazing brunch!

12 Chairs

342 Wythe Ave

Brooklyn, NY 11249

(multiple locations)

More than any other restaurant on this list, stepping into 12 Chairs feels the most like stepping into a restaurant in Israel, and that certainly extends beyond just the atmosphere and into the food! Make sure to check out their Jachnun, Hummus Falafel, and Baladi Eggplant.

Lighthouse

145 Borinquen Pl

Brooklyn, NY 11211

Lighthouse can best be described as Israeli comfort food.  You walk in and just feel that comfort, before the food even hits the table.  Doesn't hurt that the open kitchen allows you to smell all of the fresh and amazing ingredients in every dish.  You absolutely have to order their Challah + Mezze!

4

Mile End

53 Bond St

New York, NY 10012

Mile End is the evolution of old school NYC Jewish delicatessens along with the food and flavors inspired from Montreal.  What you get when you combine the two are some of the best smoked meat sandwiches in NYC, along with poutine, bagels, matzo ball soup, and so much more!

5

Russ & Daughters

179 E Houston St

New York, NY 10002

Russ and Daughters is an institution having been around for over 100 years serving New Yorkers some of the best smoked fish anywhere in the world. Now that they have their cafe, it's even easier to dive into a lox, bagel, and a schmear, along with a full menu of your favorite brunch items!

6

Kossar's

367 Grand St

New York, NY 10002

How could a Jewish Brunch Guide be complete without a bagel shop, and Kossar's is one of the oldest and best ones in NYC!  Not only do they have classics like bagels, bialys and babkas, but they have recently expanded their menu and added fun twists, like pizza bagels, babka french toast, and challah french toast!
